Fiesta’s

One of the big traditions in Spain are their Fiestas and the Granada region is no exception; with almost every local town and village hosting at least one per year.

Fiesta’s mostly take place in the summer, often lasting for several days and nights. The whole community gets involved in the fiestas and you may find them cooking up huge dishes of paella or giving out free cakes; there is almost always a procession, where a model of the Virgin Mary or a Saint is carried through the streets, accompanied by an abundance of music.

Sports

CASTILLÉJAR MOTORCROSS

Castillejar has a scrambling circuit – dry river beds are also used as tracks for this sport. Scrambling here is an annual event around the time of the October Fiesta.

 Natural swimming pools

Orce – Here you will find a natural spring water source where you can swim free of charge. Here fish abound as well, creating a very unusual experience. A bar is also available at the poolside.

Food & drink

A very important part of visiting rural Spain is enjoying eating and drinking with a difference.
In Andalucia “tapas” (appetizers) will give you the experience of the vibrant tastes of Spain with each drink you purchase in the bar. They may be cold, such as mixed olives, cheese, fresh prawns, cabbage and bacon to bread with Iberican ham, or warm, such as puntillitas, Andalusian battered fried baby squid and many more other delicacies.
